I am very disappointed after my experience yesterday. i spoke to a wonderful woman on Monday and told her that my 6YR old daughter was interested in gymnastics. I also explained that she had never been in anything like this before. The woman assured me that i called the right place. She stated i could come in that day at 5 for a free class or the next day Tuesday for the 615-715 class well since i get off at 6 i thought that was perfect. She said she would tell the instructor to look for us when we got there and we would see where my daughter would be placed. The next day my daughter was so excited. She is usually very shy and reserved. I was actually surprise3d she asked to do anything like this. So we arrived and i spoke to a lady who said the instructor would meet us in the front bc we were a bit early. The instructor was a younger woman and she asked if we were there for the free class and we said yes. In a rude tone she asked "Did you call first" i said yes i spoke to someone yesterday who stated i could come in today at this time. she the stated "when did she turn 6" again in a very unfriendly way i said she just turned 6 in May. Where then she stated that this class was for "Older" kids. I looked at the program that said its for 6-9yr olds and showed it to her. she said well its more for like 7yr olds. at the point i am mad. She decides to take my daughter Jursie in with the class to test her. The4 entire time being rude to her. Putting her down because she didnt know how to do things. Thats not teaching if you first dont tell her what to. again this was her first class ever. My 11yr old son was like mom lets just go i dont like the way shes talking to her. i askied my daughter repeatedly are you having fun? she kept saying i guess i want to see if i can do it. More than half way through the class my daughter tells me that she wants to leave bc her teacher is mean. which i have to agree. My daughter was in tears bc she said that her teacher your instructor was not helping her. She had no patience at all. I convinced my daughter to try gymnastics again. i called Tidewater Gymnastics and we will give them a try. You should really consider who is the instructor for first timers and someone who has patience to teach not just dictate.
Our child participated here for a year. We spent plenty of money here but there was very little advancement in technical skills despite our expressed desire for that - moved here and had better results. Nevertheless, the place is staffed by good people.
These young ladies worked very hard to get here...
